(Simulated) Knee Surgery data

Description

These data are simulated data that closely resembles that of a recent multicentre randomized clinical trial. The aim of the trial was to compare two surgery techniques to treat osteoarthritis of the knee. An important outcome of the trial was the Oxford Knee Score at 24 months after surgery. In short, this score summarizes the answers to twelve questions about function and pain associated with the knee and ranges from 0 to 48 (the higher the better). As is usual for such trials, the scores were collected not only at the end of follow-up (2 years) but also just before surgery and at a couple of earlier timepoints. More precisely, at 1, 6, 12 and 24 months after surgery, the patients were invited to reply to an electronic questionnaire. The Oxford knee score was computed from their replies. Subjects who did not reply electronically within a reasonable time frame were contacted by phone, to have the opportunity to answer the questionnaire orally.
